Spinning Mixes #01

In my last post, I wrote about Tammy Lakkis’new release and explained how I first heard of her thanks to a mix she did with Shigeto. Since then I thought it would be nice to share some of my favourite mixes.

Jeff Garlin’s Blue Note special mix for NTS Radio L.A

This is an only Blue Note Jazz mix by Jeff Garlin, the actor portraying Murray Goldberg in the Goldbergs. If you haven’t watched the show, you should start today! It is hilarious and touching and awesome!

Ilia Rogatchevski’s Worldwide FM show

I met Ilia in London when working at the Brooks England flagship store in Seven Dials, London. We talked a lot about music as he is part of a band and a sound artist. He was interning at Worldwide FM and as he is Russian, it was fitting to make an all Russian music mix. Lots of incredible music here!

Four Tet’s FACT Mix

Four Tet – Kieran Hebden – is, by far, my favourite electronic music artist. I discovered him and his work thanks to my friend who made me discover Flying Lotus. This mix for the British magazine FACT was first released in September 2020 to celebrate Hebden return as a resident at the East London club Plastic People.

Mike Skinner’s 2017 Smirnoff House DJ set at Lovebox

Mike Skinner is a British rapper, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist leading The Streets. You have probably heard of their massive tune Fit But You Know It. For some time Skinner was playing DJ sets and this one is a great example of what is expected from him: UK Garage, 2-Step, Bassline, Grime. A whole lot of bangers for a great party.

Skream’s live set at the Royal Albert Hall for Fabric

Skream is one of the leaders in the UK dubstep scene and last Sunday, he played this DJ set at the incredible Royal Albert Hall for the legendary London club: Fabric. His set features 140 new dubstep tracks, accompanied by one of the greatest MC’s of the scene Crazy D.
